Herrick Lake Forest Preserve has 6 to 7 miles of crushed limestone trails. A connecting trail along Butterfield Road (Route 56) heads west from the preserve to the Illinois Prairie Path. If you take the Illinois Prairie Path a couple of hundred feet further west to the intersection of Butterfield Road (Route 56) and Winfield Road you can connect to the Blackwell Forest Preserve trails.
