Here are directions for connecting to this trail from the Fox River Trail if you are heading south towards Elgin: A couple of hundred feet south of the I-90 (Northwest Tollway) bridge take Trout Park Boulevard heading east (hill!). Turn right at the first street which is Sherwood Avenue. Take Sherwood Avenue until it ends at Congdon Avenue. Turn left onto Congdon, which turns into Shoe Factory Road, and go east to Route 59 (approximately 6 miles). Note that there are sidewalks and paved trails for all but two segments of about 3/4 mile each.
If you are heading north from Elgin on the Fox River Trail you can shorten the connection by turning off the trail at the south side of the water treatment plant and taking North Grove Avenue and River Bluff Road to get to Congdon Avenue.
