Daily Herald - 06/06/2008 - The Lake County Forest Preserve District board is about to approve a contract to build an extension of the Millennium Trail. The new segment would begin at the Singing Hills Forest Preserve and end at the Autumn Grove subdivision in Volo. Full Story
Courier News - 05/14/2008 - Portions of the Fox River Trail between St. Charles and Carpentersville will be resurfaced. The work is scheduled to be completed by mid-July.
Daily Herald - 05/09/2008 - The Lake County Forest Preserve District has approved a contract to extend a Millenium Trail spur two miles. The extension will run from Route 176 and Fairfield Road to the edge of the Ray Lake Forest Preserve at Gilmer Road. Full Story
Lake County News-Sun - 05/08/2008 - Lake County and the village of Grayslake plan to extend the existing Washington Street path from Atkinson Road to the College of Lake County on Lancer Lane.
Wilmette Life - 04/17/2008 - The Village of Wilmette has won a $60,000 grant for engineering studies related to extending the south end of the Skokie Valley Trail seven mile extension along abandoned Union Pacific tracks. The extension would go from Lake Cook Road south to Old Orchard Road.
Northwest Herald - 03/28/2008 - The McHenry County Conservation District plans on starting construction this fall to create the first two mile segment of a trail which will eventually connect Crystal Lake and Woodstock. Full Story
Courier News - 03/13/2008 - The Elgin city council has given preliminary approval to a proposed network of bike routes. The plan includes establishment of a bike route grid system every four blocks or half-mile, off-street trails, and new underpasses.
Chicago Sun Times - 02/26/2008 - French company JCDecaux has offered to re-work its Chicago bus shelter contract to include a downtown bike rental program desired by Mayor Daley.
Daily Herald - 02/05/2008 - A plan to build a bike trail along Garland Road from Main Street to Gossell Road in Wauconda has been stopped by several homeowners who refused to grant easements for the trail. The village will consider future legal action to obtain the easements if voters approve a referendum request to build a new pool.
Daily Herald - 01/20/2008 - The village of Hainesville will construct a bike path on the east side of Hainesville Road this year. The path will start at Washington Street and continue to the Avon Township baseball complex. Eventually the path will be extended to go from Union Square to Belvidere Road. Construction will start at the end of March or the beginning of April.
Beacon News - 12/01/2007 - A $600,000 grant for engineering and construction to close the Fox River Trail gap in downtown Aurora has been approved. Work on the project will begin in 2008.
Beacon News - 11/30/2007 - Construction has begun on a foot bridge over Route 59 between 95th and 103rd Streets. Estimated completion date is summer 2008.
Daily Herald - 11/19/2007 - The Lake County Forest preserve has acquired land which will allow it to eventually connect the Des Plaines River Trail and the Libertyville Township's Oak Opening trail system. No timetable has been set for construction.
Daily Herald - 11/06/2007 - The village of Carol Stream and the Carol Stream Park District will be building a ten foot wide asphalt path along the west side of Kuhn Road. The path will run from Lies Road south to the Great Western trail. Construction will begin next year and should be completed by the end of 2008.
Lake County News-Sun - 10/15/2007 - Construction began in August on a path which will connect Citizen's Park in Barrington to the trails in Cuba Marsh. The connection will feature a 830 foot boardwalk and is scheduled to be completed later this fall.
Daily Herald - 09/05/2007 - The Kane County Forest Preserve District is warning people to use caution when on the Fox River Trail due to recent flooding. Sections of the trail have been washed out, other sections have erosion, and in other places debris may be encountered. It will take two to three weeks for repair and clean-up to be completed.
09/02/2007 - The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation will be hosting a "Roll The Tollway" ride on Sunday, November 11th. The 20 mile ride will be held on the newly constructed extension of I-355. Proceeds will go toward the construction of a new bike trail along the length of the road. Use the link on the Rides Page for more information.
Lake County News Sun - 08/21/2007 - Portions of the Des Plaines River Trail are closed due to flooding caused by the recent heavy rains in Illinois and Wisconsin.
Northwest Herald - 08/18/2007 - The Huntley, Union and Marengo trail will be closed for several months to repair damage from heavy rains.
Courrier News - 08/04/2007 - As part of the 24th annual National Night Out Against Crime there will be a bike ride with Bartlett Village President Catherine Melchert starting at the Bartlett Community Center from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a picnic in the park with games and entertainment at Bartlett Park from 5 to 9 p.m. Call (630) 837-0846 for more information.
06/07/2007 - The trail in Busse Woods will be closed from July 5th to August 3rd while crack repair and sealcoating is performed. There is a chance that portions of the trail will be open during this period. For the latest information you can call Joe Mollica of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County at 708-771-1573.
Daily Herald - 05/22/2007 - Monaville Road near Lake Villa will be closed from June 19 to Aug. 19 for construction of a tunnel connecting sections of the trails in Grant Woods Forest Preserve.
Joliet Daily Herald - 05/21/2007 - Over 500 people participated in the Will County Forest Preserve District's first "Ride The Rock" which featured a 16.5 mile loop on the Rock Run, Joliet Junction, and I&M Canal Trails.
Lincoln Courier - 05/12/2007 - The League of Illinois Bicyclists will present a Route 66 Trail Breaking event on June 2nd. Details can be found on LIB's web site at www.bikelib.org/route66/event20070602.htm.
Daily Southtown - 04/25/2007 - The Will County Forest Preserve District is presenting "Ride The Rock", a family oriented bike ride on May 19th. The ride will consist of a 15 mile loop on the Rock Run, Joliet Junction, and I&M Canal Trails.
Daily Herald - 04/21/2007 - The Batavia Plan Commision has approved Batavia's bicycle plan. To find the plan, visit the city's Web site at cityofbatavia.net. Click on the "board commission meeting calendar" on the left side and find the plan commission meeting for April 18. Click on the agenda, then the agenda item.
Northwest Herald - 04/19/2007 - A groundbreaking ceremony on April 18th was held to signal the start of construction on the North Nippersink Trail which will connect the Hebron Trail to the Prairie Trail.
Daily Herald - 04/06/2007 - The Cook County Forest Preserve will be adding a couple of extensions to the Algonquin Road Trail. One will create a loop in the Paul Douglas Forest Preserve. The second will extend the trail at Penny Road through the Crabtree Preserve to Palatine Road. Work will be completed in late 2008.

Northwest Herald - 03/17/2007 - The McHenry County Conservation District has approved a $655,000 bid to pave a bike trail that connects the Hebron Trail with the Prairie Trail.
Chicago Tribune - 03/16/2007 - Work will begin this spring that will nearly complete the Des Plaines River Trail in Lake County, leaving a gap of one-third of a mile behind a miniature golf course near Lincolnshire.
